  • Older White's Coinmaster 6000D/6DB/Classic II MD's and coils - questions

    Hi,

I've searched the internet for this information, but I have been unable to find the answer.

I have an old Coinmaster 6/DB MD, but I don't have the coil for it. I have found the coil for it to be a 6B model, 8" diameter. This is, of course an obsolete coil, which I have no access to (and cannot get here in Serbia). I have also found the Bluemax 256 to be compatible as well. I found the rest of the coils to be incompatible from various sources online.

My question is how can I make a coil that will be compatible? I have already some experience with building coils (just finishing a 27cm DD coil, but it's clearly incompatible with 6/DB) and I would gladly make one that is. All I need to know what are the differences between them. I understand it is 6.59KHz, just like my DD. However, because it is incompatible with it, I'm guessing there are other differences as well. Can someone tell me the inductances of the coils? How about the RX coil resonance? I'm guessing it is not 4.64KHz, like IDX and newer models.

    Thanks,
    Luka

Thanks so much! How could I have not found this? Anyway, more questions - what is the resonant frequency of the coils? Is it the same as the new ones (6.59KHz TX, 4.64KHz RX) or is it different? What's the most probable thing?

no chance to make a coil on old design. http://www.geotech1.com/forums/showt...highlight=coil
you see. no full data on them. 6.59kHz is not adaptive to old whites, it is new design. before 6.59 was yet 5.125kHz coil that you can find in patent of whites US4293816.
so your coil is even early, maybe 4b coil and 6b coil, Moreland can tell you more, but I see Carl is out of game (he answers constantly on similar q's so that is very aggravate for him, while search engine of the forum is not so good to find needed topic in needed moment quickly)
IMO you have to go drawing TX part and get it working. then think about how to make RX part and balance.

Yes, I see by the inductance difference, the new isn't adaptable at all. However, I could make a new one specifically for my 6/DB. All I need to know is whether I need the RX to be resonant at 4.64KHz or some other frequency. I will be making one, but the more information and opinions I can get, the easier it will all be!

          Thanks for the info.

can you give pics of the board, pics of the housing I could see what is 6/DB inside and outside? my email is [email protected]

resonance in RX is NONSENSE. the cap in RX does FILTER for hight EM influence.

I will send you photos inside and out as soon as I get home, in an hour.

As for Rx cap, doesn't it also influence the phase of the signal? That is necessary for discrimination, right?

discrimination in 6/DB?? is there the disc pot at housing anywhere?

Yes it does. Here are the photos of the outside and inside. I am changing the electrolytic capacitors with new ones, so it's open.

But I thought the Coinmaster 6/DB could only use the D4 or D5 coil that were available in 8" and 15" only which is not on the list.

The F coil was made only in a BM256 (Blue Max 10"). This loops totally interchangeable with all 6B (not D4 or D5)

I use a 6B coil on an IDX and run out of ground balance. So guess the difference between the coils is in the phase shift.

Hopefully Carl can confirm this and help with your specs

blur pics like always. why do not go to daylight to the SUN at backyard to shot at free air??... I do not comprehend the people why they are not able to make
                        good pics.

                              Interesting kt315

                              Whites recommend the 6B

Where as on the Whites forum by an administrator it's D4 and D5
