The two projects are very different, both easy to make, if you buy the ebay kit take special note of what the seller says about VT1 and make sure you get the legs correct.

- they have many version and PCB of pirate. I don't know what is the best PCb and version (LM301, TL078....) ?

With only a few parts, it is quickly set up

Ask hammerhead for his layout. Its the one with the russian OPamp. This one is the best.
I like the Pirat Pi. Depht is 25cm with one Euro. 25cm coil. I use a smaller one 16-18cm and im satisfied.
Its good when i dont want to dig big holes.

The pirate did not convince me, I used the TL078.

I mean, the pirate is too simple, better is for example a surf PI kit

Or a complete Kit from Silverdog ( Silverdog.co.uk).

Barracuda has a good depht about 30 - 35cm for a Coin.
