    Hi kellogs;
    Take your time cutting the Lexan with a fine tooth blade to prevent breakage. Hopefully you will practice winding 3 times around with string or cord to get the basket weave pattern right. A few mistakes won't effect the outcome much. If you find a mistake late into the process just try to keep the wires crossing rather than laying parallel against the previous wrap. Keep some tape or large rubber bands handy to secure the kit in case you get interrupted or need a break.

    Be sure to mark the inside wire and the outside wire since the outside windings become the shield.

    I haven't built the Surf PI. I did build the Minipulse Plus a few months ago. It turned out pretty good, but I am in the process of experimenting and modifying it.
    Our local Home Depot store sells Lexan in small sheets; the smallest being 8" x 10". The mountains and Ski areas are getting snow. We are getting quite a bit of rain in the valley.

      I used Lexan on my first one and had some internal cracking. It is a little difficult to work with.
      My second I used fiberglass from an old serving tray. Very strong but heavy!
      The last one I built I used that plastic cardboard the political signs are made out of. That one is light
      but somewhat flexible. I am sandwiching it in an 11" housing with some thick epoxy so I can use less epoxy.
      It's tricky getting a light stiff result but this type of winding seems to be very fast. There is only a little
      difference in speed between silver stranded Teflon and Litz using this technique.
