Teknetics G2 PRO and CONS

Hi all,

upgrading my Whites 6000 / di pro sl to new detector and searching for new lighter tech.
Detector must be all in one type but mainly better on gold.

Was looking into Garret AT PRO and Teknetics G2 (Fisher Gold Bug Pro).
Can someone write CONS and PROS for AT PRO and G2.
Standard coil.

Is it worth it ? New, faster, lighter, better ?

Take T2. It has pretty the same sensitivity to gold nuggets (on what is G2 dedicated) using similar coils and it has nice volume control.

OK, T2 is older and better on paper
Works on 13 kHz and has problems with EMI

Yes, (civilisation) EMI near to villages could be problem for T2 and ask for reducing of sensitivity.

But despite lover sensitivity to 88, it can still detect 1.1 gram gold nuggets, in high mineralized testing substrate (Fe3O4=.3, manual GC=78 ), using 11" coil, at depth of 8cm. G2 cannot do better with the equal coil.

I don't need sensitivity to small gold ... only gold rings and sometimes coins
I don't have natural gold close by.

You have Teknetics T2 ?

I will make extension cable for G2 headphones ... designer positioned plugs on left side...
it is better to have L shaped plug and then extension with pots for control ... cheaper than headphones with control.

I have a good price on used G2 with stock coil ... about $540 with postage

I have few tests from internet videos - G2 (air test)
12" - US nickel
10" - US silver quarter

11" - UK 5p
13" - UK 10p
13" - UK 2p
13" - UK Pound

7" small gold mesh ring 10k gold
7-8" 14k small ring
8" 10k ring with stones
10-11" 10k mans ring
12" big mans ring 14k
...

at pro can be a bit heavy,

Whites 6000 / DI PRO SL is more than heavy with 4 C cells
I managed to hunt 8 hours - made a harness to carry weight

This G2 and newer detectors are featherweight category

G2 is right chose, don't worry. And not so overpriced as some other higher class "bells and whistles" models. Main drawback in my view is lack of volume control (except over headphones).

there is also problem with ALL METAL ID numbers ... G2 is showing something else with that big numbers and showing only ID in graphics representation on top
