I think i discoverd something (Pulse Induction working on 8.5v / 10mA)

As Engineering Manager of a major detector manufacturer, I've had a number of people approach me with design ideas "for sale." Sometimes nothing more than an idea, usually not the least bit realizable. (How about a detector that can distinguish a pull tab from a gold ring? How about a detector that shows you a picture of what's in the ground?) The first question I ask is, do you have a working prototype I can test? Without that, there's not much to discuss.

I know where you going to. I shall start this week with sound output and ill post a movie online. So that you all can see its working. Ill do my best. The biggest isue is that i dont have good compare results only that i have going over my normal pi results. So i will ask you guys for some results.

I will, first i want to try some other things.... had some noise in it and the noise reacted at 30-35 cm on my knife, but i cant get that noise back im now back at 20 cm.... but have a nice stable signal now and also ferro and the non-ferro signal is working well! The ferro signal is not that good, small iron still doesnt react better than other metals. Mayby i will make a vid tomorrow. First i want my 10 cm extra!!!! (Hopfully also stable)

Today i tried some other materials to see how its reacting. The materials i tried are Graphite and Ferrite and both are being discriminated!!! YES!!!

It looks to me like you've not critically damped the coil. Towards the end of the video (when you zoom into the trace) there's a huge amount of ringing.
The experiment appears (at least at first sight) to be a simple square-wave oscillator driving an untuned (and underdamped) coil.
