  • Box capacitor vs ceramic disc capacitor

A project I'm working calls for a 1nf Polyester Film Box Type Capacitor. I do not have one available, but do have a 102 1nf ceramic disc capacitor. Any problems in switching types?

    TIA

I think he means like a poly/metal film cap or something along those lines.

It will depend on where it is in the circuit and what its function is. In general, ceramic capacitors are somewhat non-linear in their frequency and voltage responses, compared to poly/metal film capacitors.

ceramics have some piezo effect, but not much actual for metaldetecting, they are universal and work only good in many application. I do not see a cause why ceramic is bad vs film. ceramic is slightly temperature dependent, this is need to remember, but for us this is also unactual.
