  • TGSL QUESTION

i am thinking of building the TGSL and just wanted to know if its a difficult project to make and what tesoro coils are suitable for this detector....also are the coils easy to make for this detector ????

Circuit is easy to build. I bought a Detech 13" Ultimate coil and works a treat.

Tgsl is a bit difficult than a pi machine but it also not too hard to build..i build one w/o oscop and it working good now..

its the coils that seem to be the hard part, but thats true for all vlf/ib, there is also a minelab coil version.
i would suggest that a scope is on hand as well, it could be done without but why make a challenge into a trial?, i decided on the IDX when i built my first vlf, but only for two reasons, 1 i have a whites IDX (so allready had a sound coil), and 2 i had a dead 3900 to use as an enclosure and handle.
from the posts on here builders seem to get a real satisfaction from building the TSGL.

i would really like to have a go at building a TSGL metal detector as im a big tesoro fan....is it the 4 or 5 pin tesoro coils that will work with the TSGL ??? i may have a go at making my own coil maybe 2D would be easier than a concentic coil...is there any coil tuning to be done if you make your own coil ???

Hehehe..it is true that it is important to have oscop because i been made 3 coils and only 1 of them works better..if i just have an oscope i could make them all working

All of them may work but the 4pin is advisable because the circuit is for 4 pin.. in making coil all the details is well documented in the tgsl complete details which you will found in tgsl sticky thread.

The TGSL is designed to work with the 5-pin coil. The 4-pin coil has a much lower TX coil inductance, which is not suitable.
