  • XP Deus problem?

I just have an XP Deus and encounter the following problems.
He sees some aluminum alloys like silver.
    I explain:
If it detects some aluminum alloys he gives the ID numbers between 89-97.
Second problem is that he indicates a small nickel coin around the ID 92 and 2 inches away from the coil you no longer hear the coin. !!!
Anyone recognize this behavior of XP.
Does anyone have some tips, maybe I'm doing something completely wrong.

    regards, nupi.

I don´t have an Deus. But on the explorer there is also silver (bigger coins, rings) and aluminum with the same indication. If you don´t dig aluminum than you will loose silver.

      Hi mschmahl,
      Thanks for your response,

I knew that the ID were not accurate, but that it was so inaccurate I had not thought.
I have done some ID tests:

      Liberty one dime, 91
      Quarter dollar, 94
      Liberty half dollar, 97
      Small Silver ring 18mm, 93

Nickel coin 15mm, 93 on 4 inch from coil, at 2 inch from coil nothing at all.
A quarter piece of crushed soda cans, 93

      Maybe my detector is broken.
But if it is not broke, and this is normal, I do not understand why people want to have ID detector. It's just a toy.

I write tomorrow to the XP Deus in France and want my money back, if this is normal and not broken.

I thought I remember someone on the Deus said, a better detector than a Deus is a Deus with a large coil. I think it's better to say a Deus without the ID.

      regards, nupi.

uk 5p 2014 = no response, partial iron tone = no vdi - clad steel

        uk £1 = 82

        uk £2 = 82-85

uk 2p 2006 = 99 with partial iron tone sometimes no vdi - no detect at 1" - clad steel

        uk 1p 1999, 2007 = no detect - clad steel

I do not know what to say but you can just talk to me.
I have to guess what you mean to say.
It seems normal to me that clad steel discriminated with such high disc.
What is also certain is that with such high disc setting you much gold undetected late lie in the ground.

the lines which are painted in the 4 section are different form al foil and silver
please try, make some photos and upload them if possible
at moment i have not much time

                      Hi, bente_one

I took some pictures with the GM Power Program 2.

The bolt 1 is not magnetic but is slightly rusty.
                      A kind of stainless steel?
The bolt was 28 cm deep, slightly skew in the ground.
It is very interesting to see the distortion of the signal from the bolt in the x-y.
In my case, no important data but that was because of the position of the bolt.
In this example, can be definitely a good help, splendid.

In other examples, I can not clear interpret.

Ich danke Ihnen sehr für Ihre Hilfsbereitschaft.
I thank you very much for your helpfulness.

what strikes me is these machines dont appear to have AGC action as the signal traces hit the end of the display range and fold over.

Maybe its just a graphics SW shortfall?

I dont know if they have an automatic gain control or not, but in this video you can also see strange things. https://youtu.be/Abig7YSx0e0

I would absolutely not depict, the XP Deus negative. I think it's a wonderful wireless technology metal detector. But I think the ID problem is maybe on all detectors .
I do not know what the value of an ID is. I would prefer that the company spend the money on more useful study.

That the faith of Deus France, is not big on their own ID readout, you can see in this email from Deus.

" you will discover that target ID is not the sole point who make a detector good or not, this is just a part of a product, for example some more expansive machine have no target ID… and some experienced user work only with headphone and multitone sound.
VLF metal detector display the target conductivity, and some different target can fall into the same conductivity value, for example there is no specific value for Silver, thin silver paper can give same value as some lower conductive metal for example, but most of silver coin give an high value like 80/90, also globally the ID is an advantage to help recognizing some trash with experience, unfortunately most of the large iron are not well recognized as their conductivity look similar to good target, but with experience you will hear a large tonality change (low to high pitch)
Even if target ID is important, Depth, target separation, response speed, weight, ergonomic are some of the most important point that a metal detectorist is searching for."
