An interesting experiment. We've never tried it because it seemed to us to be impossible. We don't have a metal drain cover but we have a 90 x 60 cm (35"x 24") triple central heating radiator.

We have tried it out and we are very surprised with the results of this extreme overload experiment.

i hope that Mr. M.D. prototypes will give us somewhere in future all files to build this detector
            but thats just a hope

if it work like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12YLaiUnEhc I might make it but so far the videos show nothing new compared to other projects on here. The problem with large iron is only there if the coil is in motion. I rested my IDX against a radiator and placed a large rusty spanner diagonal across the coil and it still works fine.

Testing a detector on a bench is very difficult to get meaningful results. I have just made a coil that works fine inside works fine on my flat lawn even over wet grass but fails on normal pasture fields because the surface is not as flat

So, what's in the plastic container ? broken tiles, pottery and bricks ?

                              Only, broken pottery.

It is important to adjust precisely the ground balance because of different and uneven surfaces.

Bricks and pottery are only mildly mineralized, true mineralized ground is highly mineralized and highly magnetic. Picture below is of a small sample of highly mineralized ground I use to test my PI circuits.
