  • Stupid question?

I redid my controller and have been trying different coils. Was playing with GB. Integrator out had some noise. Turned Tx off, still had noise. Shorted Rx, low noise . Changed DOD coil with Rx's adding to oOo coil with Rx's subtracting, low noise. Was using a can of duster blowing on the circuits to check for temperature drift. Got a signal from the integrator with Tx turned off when duster can got close to coil. Not what I expected. Tried aluminum can, no signal. Had EF sample turned off since I wasn't swinging the coil. Turned EF sample on, no signal when swinging the duster can. Is signal due to a ferrous target moving thru the earth field?

Yes, the can will have a small amount of magnetism, so it will induce some current as you swing it. Could also be concentrating the earth's magnetic field.
