Possible to Change metallized polyester precision capacitor by Polyester Film capacitor in TGSL.

First i m beginner in electronic and second i m french and my english is not very good.


My question it is possible to switch 1% metallized polyester precision radial lead capacitors Electrocube by Polyester Film capacitor on TGSL board(Tesoro golden sabre light).


The reasons it very easy first Polyester Film capacitor is very low price and the second it very more easy for found.
i just want to say if i use Polyester Film capacitor on my board tgsl this is affect the performance to my detector...

You won't notice any degradation in performance by using the polyester film capacitor.

Both those capacitors pictured are 5% tolerance ( letter J ). Letter F is used for 1% tolerance.

you re right Skippy is 5% on the picture and i writing 1% sorry this is my mistake and thank you for the information...

the reason i write this is because a lot of people here use this little box capacitor (metallized polyester precision radial) and is very high price capacitor and is possible using the low cost capacitors(polyester film capacitor) and before you re post. i m thinking the people have a reason for using a more expensive capacitors.

Metallized polyester is mainly used where you need long term stability, and you don't want the capacitance to vary over time. The TGSL design can tolerate quite a wide range of values, which means that the cheaper polyester film types will be ok. In fact, many people have built the TGSL using components scavenged from other equipment.
