Made a couple charts in Excel to compare ground(decays on a straight line on a log-log graph) and targets that decay exponentially(straight line on a lin-log graph). Ground and target decay at the same rate if sample delay equals target time constant and ground slope is -1. Ground decays faster at a shorter delay and slower at a longer delay. Depending on Tx pulse shape I get a slope as high as -1.5. It looks like delay needs to be 1.5 times the target time constant for the decay rate to be equal with a slope of -1.49.
