US NICKLE PI DEPTH TEST QUESTION

Most of the test are done with a "Jefferson Nickel" coin. A Washington quarter is larger diameter and is constructed
with a copper core sandwiched between two high conductor alloy. We call them clad coins. The US dime or 10 cent piece is the same. Before 1965 all
US coins greater than 5 cents were 90% silver 10% copper. Now they are made of cheap mystery alloys.
"What is a nickel made of?
A nickel, in American usage, is a five-cent coin struck by the United States Mint. Composed of 75% copper and 25% nickel, the piece has been issued since 1866. The silver half dime, equal to five cents, had been issued since the 1790s."

Ask around your friends, there's bound to be folks with spare US holiday money you can bribe into donating. Or offer them face value, it will only cost you a Pound for a handfull.
Failing that, the original large 5 pence, or its 1 Shilling equivalent are pretty close to a nickel, both in target ID and size.

thanks for all the replies on this guys...i saw a test on youtube with a whites TDI pro and a Garrett ATX using the US nickle and the Whites was amazing at detecting the nickle at 18" in wet sand and the Garrett at 16"...a minelab CTX 3030 only doing about 10-12" on the US nickle.
