    Found this while looking for something else. Ignoring the frequency as its like comparing apples to pears as the detectors are different. I thought it was quite interesting that the early detectors were considered better for silver coins than their upgraded ones

    This agrees with the White's Electronics DFX Engineering Report. Look at the section on Operating Frequencies ->

    And is why they chose 6.6kHz for their general purpose detectors, which is close to the 6.85kHz frequency chosen by Compass.

      Thanks for the link. I also found the section on VDI Normalization fascinating.
