picture shows on board threshold pot.

its surface mount so be VERY careful removing it,
then using thin flexible wires link all 3 pads to your new
pot mounted on the front panel.

the pot on the front panel should be a 50k,
the +5v ( red ) wire req a 47k inline to the (max) part of the pot,

the white wire goes from the centre pad on the board to the centre of the new pot.

the black wire goes from the left hand pad on the board to the new pots (min ) leg.

the original trim pot was 100k,
so I put a 47k inline with the new pot to replicate the original setting on the trim pot on the board.

so now my pot goes from original settling (high),
      all the way down.

I didn't see the need to have full range,
certainly no need to go higher than factory setting,
      detector becomes quite "chattery".........

but being able to go lower does help,
can quieten the detector over " noisy " ground and it allows sensitivity
      to be run allot higher,

which results in targets coming through loud and clear.

          hello WM6,

not looked in to an external volume pot,
          found headphone volume just right.

have been using headphones with a built in volume control,
but usually just turn it up full,

suppose it would be handy for those with poorer hearing.

there is a few "redundant" sockets on the board,
one is labelled "VOL" not looked in to weather or not its functional.

there is also sockets labelled "threshold" and "audio / mode" that are not used on the M6,
going to suspect that the board is a variation of the MXT or something.

the external threshold pot is the only thing I've done with my M6,

"messin around with something that ain't broke can quite quickly end you up
          with something that is broke............."
          ( quote , by me. lol. )
