Regarding IB, some PI detectors for big targets have the Tx and the Rx coils far apart, effectively magnetically isolated from each other.
I'm thinking of a DD coil variant where the D's instead of overlapping, are separated on their parallel side by a magnetic permeable material (long ferrite plate) effecively magnetically isolating Tx from Rx.

In this case the baseline swing due to imbalance wouldn't exist and I could use the Rx coil in low impedance.
