  • ground minerals

is it true that ground minerals has little or a smaller effect on detection depth of a pi than a vlf, and if so is there any pi detectors at present, that give some iron disc worth considering for inland searching.

    Re: ground minerals

    Hi Andy,

Ground conductivity does not degrade depth with a PI. That is one reason PI's excel on a wet beach. In fact it enhances the range in some cases. Magnetic minerals can reduce depth as they cause the transmitter field to spread more horizontally. However, the mineralisation has to be quite strong for this effect to be noticeable.

    Eric.
