Fortune M, Quasar ARM and KROT2 XM

Anyone on here built one of the above. Quasar looks very popular on YouTube. Also PCB is readily available. Seem to be some using on wet sand but can't tell if its lake or sea beach.


PCBs are very confusing no two look identical.


I would have guessed this site would be the most up to date

But have see a vision 2 PCB for sale.


Some of the YouTube video of them being used in the field are very funny. Never seen such big holes dug and still miss the target.



The fortune m looks to have less false signals in the field but much less popular for some reason.

I built two of the krot2 xm detectors. I built the second one thinking I made a mistake on the first one because of Morse code like false signals. I went out MD-ing today with it and found a coin. It still gets false signals, but much less due to improvements in firmware. I heard that some fellow was working on a new receive section using a MCP 6022 ( like the Quasar ARM has)to replace the original MCP601 claiming that it eliminates the false signals(which is the detectors biggest drawback) I'm also seriously thinking of building a quasar ARM, but the current board designs are limited. I have a hard time drilling for vias on a board that small. A nice looking board V 2.0 is available on Ebay from some guy from Moldovia. I hate to give up on the krot2 XM, because it has good firmware support from the author Andrew, and has nice features, but at some point you got to pull the plug. I have problems trying to de-cipher the Russian forums. I have heard some good things about the Fortune M but I have no experience with it.

Seen a lot of videos with them suffer from false signals. Hard to tell from YouTube as you don't know how bad the ground is.


A search on here shows a few boards for the quasar were bought but can't see any finished detectors.

ok. in first video a tester says at end that he would like to see some mix, a sound and grafo taken from Fortuna but the depth taken
from Quasar.
