Has anyone got a schematic of the audio section of the gold scan 5....also i noticed there is a mod for a switch for high & low or all tones...how is this mod done ????

    Never seen the audio section

i would in the future like to try and do two tone audio as in the GS5....maybe i could somehow work it out by experimenting when i have the time.

to take VCO from GS-4 is not an issue?

          Hi kt
how are you doing ??? is the GS 4 audio the same as GS 5....can the GS 4 be converted to have the high & low switch with two different tones ????

If you want to add a simplified hi/low conductor switch that acts much like the one on the TDI, you can do what I did on the original GS 5 and that is, add a 2 position switch, center off type. Center leg will connect to the GND connector on the audio board (blue wire on the pic). The two ends of the switch will have a wire that will also go to the audio board and connect as shown in the attached pic. The two wires are a white and a yellow and each will connect to a resistor being careful there is no shorting to other parts.

for change of tone of VCO you can change ANY value of R and C, it is rule.
but GS5 sound is not same like GS4. GS4 sound is fully similar to Delta Pulse sound (how i see in youtube).

It's hard to get beautiful audio VCO from worst detectors you get very good detectors

This topic is very interesting audio GS5.
I suspect it is also known to some forum members, but remains reserved.
Mickstv, public something similar in "full Tinkerer project", The scheme is in the link below, but now you can not see the scheme.
From GS5 scheme published in Geotech and the published audio by Mickstv, it could be performed much like the GS5, with audio tone, similar to TDI.
As orbit says, it is difficult, but not impossible.

Orbit, i have wrote above that sound is not same in both.
GS4 - kinda 'Geiger counter' sound
                    GS5 - amplitude+VCO modulation

Of course it is possible !

I think I know to which scheme thoughts Jose I tried but I did this solution for one reason but it does not matter who .

Thanks for posting, Reg. The image shows an AD654. A quick look at the datasheet states its a voltage to frequency converter that outputs a square wave at up to 500kHz.

image shows deleted NE555 from the main board. probably it was VCO. VCO is done at subboard, yes.

                            Hi Reg
Thanks for the picture which makes things somewhat clearer...i wonder has anyone made a GS5 as a project...i think they are so expensive to buy second hand and rare to buy...i would love a GS 5 or TDI but at present cannot afford one....
