What battery to use ?

What is the best batteries for Mini Pulse Plus and a Surf Pro kit. I have Double A's know but would like to go to the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery. I read the cheap ones from china don't last so where do you guys that use them get yours and what mAh battery do I need for my MPP and for my Surf Pro.

3 pcs of 18650 li-ion battery will work will. 2500mah- 4000mah is good..do not buy the any rated hinger than 4000mah because mostly of them is fake.. In real a rated 6000mah will only give below 2000mah in reality.

In real life you can't hardly get anything over 2300mA-2500mA.
If it's rated higher than that and cost is less than 10$ per piece stay away from it.

there is another type of li ion cells they have a bigger Diameter as these 18650 cells, they have also more capacity i think 26650 (same length 65mm but dia 26mm)

I invested in a charger that can charge and cycle batteries and report their capacity.

I have some brand new chinese lithium (18650) batteries that are labelled 5000mAh and they are actually 700mAh (branded as BTBAi) - 6 for $20AU with charger
I tested some Sanyo 3500mAh japanese (18650) batteries and they were about 3400mAh - 2 for $22AU

My Eneloop Pro AA batteries also test close to their ratings.

In all my testing Japanese = good Chinese = poor (

Very true..most of chinese made product are poor maybe because they just made a product propotion to the price.. If you want a quality product but cheaper than japanese made you can choose a made in taiwan..though they are bloodline of chinese but they are better compare to them.

Thanks for the help guys , The knowledge on this site really helps straighten the learning curve for us new guys just learning, not to mention the cost of trial and ere when trying to learn.
I'll be looking for some Sanyo 3500mAh japanese 18650 batteries.

In some of the pictures posted of dectectors I see some are using the blue battery packs something like in this link.
Looks like it would take up less room in a box. Any advice on this type.

Im about to embark on my first surf pi build as well, I was thinking of using Li-ion batteries from my Nikon camera, they are 7.4V 1500mAh 12wh, reason being a have a few of them and also have the charger, Do you think they would be enough for the surf pi 1.2 Diy kit?

What about a Lipo? Rc car type 3S would be about 11.4v (lihv)? cheap easy to charge if you have the proper charger (balance)? Just a thought
