  • TDI SL

Hello,im new to this site.I posted on a UK FORUM and was told to come here and Carl will answer my question,or maybe anyone else. What is the maximum power a Whites Tdi Sl will run on,some say 14.4v,16.0v and 18v.My question is will a battery rated 14.4 v that will peak at 16.8v be OK to use in my machine..Many thanks if you have read this.Any help much appreciated......

My recollection is that I designed it to accept 18v and maybe more. I don't recall exactly, but the board was designed to be used in the regular TDI as well which is a 14.4v system. Your battery should be fine.

Hello Carl, thank you very much indeed..I'm going to get this Battery as Reidman cannot post his mod battery to me in Northern Ireland..I'm also going to purchase a 14" Mono Razorback Coil from John, ive been told that this will make my TdI Sl a better unit to use on the beach than my Ctx 3030,here's hoping. Thanks again Carl.

I would think the board has a Regulator on it. As long as you don't over volt its rating it should do good I'm thinking.

So are you saying I need to see if there's a Regulator on the board and somehow check it's rating?

The regulators should be 79L05, which are good for 30V or so. But the battery is also applied directly to the TX circuitry and tank caps. I expect I used 25V or 35V tank caps, so 17-18V should be no sweat.

I tried the (first) TDI model at 25V without problem.
Difference at depth was very small so the stantard battery (14.8V) is the best solution.
Of cource i believe that the constructors knows better than us
