  • P.I. Detector

Hi Carl: We now have a working detector and the guys now what to go to option #2. It works well and seems to find target about 9 to 12 inches away from the coil. We are thinking of making a 4 inch coil to see how that works on very small objects. Our test so far are in air but are proving interesting. Sorry to see that you are not writing the articles in the magazine. Mr. Brooks is fine man but sometimes a little boring. Will you keep writing in some other publication? Cheers for now Jim

    Re: P.I. Detector

    Hi Jim,

I'm also looking at making small coils, but I really need to finish the article and wrap up some other experiments first. I just got back from the GGPA gold rally, picked up an old A.H. "Nugget" detector. This thing is in a nice little package, collapses to nothing, and has a 2-1/2" coil and a 1" probe. Replace the off-resonance circuit with a PI circuit, and it'd be a sweet nugget hunter.

Also got to finally meet Ty Brook at the rally, really nice guy. I doubt I will do any regular articles, too demanding, maybe something occasional.

Ty Brook's column in W&ET was quite interesting.

He wrote a book, I have heard. Does anyone here have it?

Yup, "Inside Treasure Hunting." It has some good info, but woefully lacks illustrations. Almost all text.
