i would not choice cz-5 just cause >20 trimms you has to know how to tune everyone (american 'know how' activated). i can guess this matter but
majority is needed in detailed manual and methodics. its always bad with english. so i choice schematics with
2-3 trimmers that is simple for explanation.
this guy veltex is bad one. he got a money for the pcb but never sent it to buyer.
he is not active now in www.
answering on your Q came fromhttp://www.md4u.ru/index.php

IMHO CZ-5 is far too complex even for a hardened professional.
On my enjoy-o-meter there are too easy, easy, just about right, mildly challenging, and thanks but no thanks. This one is in beyond ridiculous category, waaay beyond thanks but no thanks. Far too many things may go wrong.
BTW, the PCB file you posted is one of two, and you miss the other. You can't expect CZ to work without both of them.
Dave J. often places some odd components that are hard to come by, guess only to annoy copiers, and you'll find constant current diodes here. Mind you, not a garden variety component. Does a perfect job though.
Don't get me wrong, I have total respect for this concept. Everything is there. But. No wonder there are no 2 freakers among amateur builds.

If you build a CZ clone, there's only 1 person who may be able to calibrate it correctly: 'NASA Tom' Dankowski, in Florida. See his Forum for links to his services.

But obviously you would have to be 100% certain it was functioning correctly before spending ??? Dollars having it calibrated.

I want to try to collect [make] FISHER CZ-5, as there are in the presence of a pair of coils of this device. What is good to disappear! Of course, there was the problem of where to find the normal scheme of this instrument found only two, one is drawn by hand, and the other scan FISHER CZ-6, but the quality is poor. I tried to collect all in a heap. Found another PCB in Protel seems to have been made from the original [he means jackdetect alias file. jackdetect Jelko is serb and passed away much time ago]. The board had to edit a couple of errors found. And that's what happened with the first circuit board and, if there are any comments or additions so write.

I have found an error in the original fisher drawing. I have a working detector to go by but maybe too big a project.
I may try to use my old coil and build the preamp and TX to see if I can make a deep seeking single freq unit.
Like I say I was looking for more info before proceeding.
I did an 8 tone mod to my original today. It may be a bit much but it's fun to play!

A regular on Dankowski's forum was wanting to mod a CZ6 to have iron-tone volume adjustment. I gave him the general idea of how it could be achieved, but his electronics skills were insufficient, so the project faded, shame.
I liked the idea of a 13KHz / 39KHz CZ machine, but it's way too ambitious a project. On the 'multifreq' thread, I was told that using sequential 'Australian-style' multifreq was far easier, but sadly no-one was able to come up with any starting point, eg. Sovereign/Explorer schematics. So that one's seemingly dead, too.

The iron tone is easy to identify. There's a 3 bit word that even gives you digital indication.
The problem is above 1/2 volume all iron tones are bumped up to be the same so you loose
indication of deep undiscriminated stuff. I do not see where in the schematic this occurs to
eliminate this function...
