Here are some scope pics. P23 is the control of the AM channel analog switch, P24 is the control of the X (discrimination) channel. The R channel is not shown but is shifted only about 2.5 degrees from the AM channel (which by the way is used on the cutlass to get silent all metal).
There are phase measurements on these shots, perhaps they reveal a little info. But it seems to me it is possible depending on the phase difference that the sample can last up to 180 degrees. Just an observation. The math would be over my head for determining what the resultant DC would be. The important thing is a comparison I assume.
My intent is to make my salt switch mod work better. I was able to shift the ground balance enough to balance to wet salt, however this causes the machine to now detect iron. The disc still works I believe, but I can't disc out the iron. I thought I needed more understanding to possibly narrow the discrimination. I think 180 degrees away from the new ground setting is iron.
