I just recently bought a Tesoro cutlass II umax and from what I have been reading regarding it's discrimination and discrimination in general it is almost impossible to detect gold and discriminate out aluminum and most other "trash" signals. is this actually true or is it only my misunderstanding of the tech? I have to run my detector at desc no higher than 2 and usually run about 1.5 at max sensitivity so I "see" almost everything and have to dig most everything.

If you set the discrimination for tab then you have already lost some gold targets and a few other things.
