  • Another MiniPulse Plus build with questions

I have finally put aside the time for all 4 of my builds. (MMP, IDX pro, Surf PI and barra)
The first one is the MPP for the simple reason that the instructions are so detailed it looks like a simple build.

I have just completed step 4, and its time to hook up a coil.

Coils I own (and are where I am at the moment) are Ace250, Fisher CZ 10" and Whites 6B

I just wound my first coil but it doesn't meet the specs for the MPP.

The coil I made is 10" basket wound 310uh 3.2ohm is it fine for initial tests?

310 uh and 3.2 ohms should be fine for the MPP. Just make sure to adjust the dampning resistor to your coil when the build is complete.
    Good luck with your build.

      Yes, that will be fine.

Documentation has the adjustment for R6 to be less than 22us.
My adjustment seems to go from 2 - 10us.

R10 and C8 were measured before fitting.

Further tests show the TX pulse width is not 58ms it is more like 20ms, it is not the 555.

Check the calibration knob on your oscilloscope's timebase control, make sure it is in the zero position.

I read your comment and said to myself.... hey, the scope may be new to me but I adjusted the time base and its fine.

Downloaded the manual and what do you know? Set properly to cal and now the aux LCD display has stopped flashing cal warnings.

              Thanks kind sir.
Now if only it would keep its last settings.
