    I was reading about old detectors here:

    in the Garrett catalog of 1973 they advertise the coil they have made claim deep like this: (look at the image).
    I know BFO detector can go deep(on larger objects) with a big search coil... but.. were they so deep or it is simple advertising ??

    The detection depth they're claiming is for a huge metal target. So this is the absolute maximum detection depth possible for a particular coil size.

        ok clear. The lack of dimension of the large object to detect is very misleading
