  • Carl: Bandito U4 wrong?

The analog switch should be a 4016 not 4066.

Could be. Same chip, different ron I think, which is not important in this design.

      Hi Carl,

I am not sure of the exact reason but the 4016 is generally selected over the 4066. I remember a discussion about it with George Payne a long time ago, but just don't remember the reason now.

        Hi all

In general the 4066 is a better version than 4016, lower R-on and smaller difference in resistance between the four swithces.

          I confirm!
I have tried to replace 4066 with 4016 on the BandidoII and the operation it is the same.

I was concerned because I just replaced one. I used 4016 because that what was there. Then I noticed the discrepancy, and thought maybe I should get those reading glasses after all.

              Hi Mark,

I thought the 4066 was a newer and better version also, but for some reason, the 4016 is still preferred choice by some of the manufacturers. I wish I could remember what I was told as to why the 4016 is preferred, but I can't.

                Reason why......

The reason why a manufacturer chose a 4016 is the price! The 4066 is better, but more expensive and a 4016 do the job as good as a 4066 in their application.
