    Thanks
    Nicola
Eric must know what detector you have so to give you the answer.
I search for same things also but the only that i made is a big coil 60cm and a square coil 1x1m. The 60cm coil gave me 30% more depth compared to the 12" original coil.
Maybe this winter to try a provision with 2 horizontal 60cm coils.

If i remember good your Superscan has this ability.
As the TX ground coil does not have many turns, we use a Buccaneer circular multi-pin plastic bodied connector to break the coil so that it is easy to go round trees and rocks.

Do you know Eric how to build a double coil for the XR-71? Because between trees is difficult use the big coil like 1x1mt

            This works !
But he lost much of sensitivity !
For how many laps more RX coil and whether the same thickness of wire ??Click image for larger version

You should be able to use 1.5 - 2.0 times as many turns and much thinner wire on the RX, as there is no need for low resistance. The RX damping resistor can also be a higher value. You will have to experiment to find the best value.

Remember, you will not detect small items such as single coins with this arrangement. Only good for cannonball size and upwards, e.g. treasure chests, metal boxes, helmets, armour, weapons, coin hoards, large metal pipes.

              Eric.

Thanks Eric ! Yes to greater things do I need !And I will try and change my input amplifier !?

Im also interested to build a detector like this, a have the same problem as the topic starter walking in the woods with a frame coil can be a pain in the butt sometimes....

Which wire thickness are you using for the RX and TX coil?

offer new sctructura design (C) (kt315)

you get the balance basically AUTOMATICALLY!
