  • White's 6000 Pro XL

Recently i came across very good preserved White's 6000 Pro XL.
Machine is in original state, fully functional, excellent condition.
It's been a whiles since last time i played with such oldies!
    What a thrill!
It is indeed joy to see one of these, every once in a while.
I even went outdoor with it, in deep forest.
    Discovered few items.
Nothing much to criticize here, it is still competitive.
Maybe only audio needs a bit of improvements. Maybe another tone to add.
Although now i understand it's "wide" response. On smallest and weakest signals it is advantage.
"Signal Balance" feature is indeed "colorful" and useful!
    Excellent for experimenting!
I changed so many models and brands so far... each time i tell to my self "i will keep this one for my collection"... and than later i sell it.
This one is worth to be kept. But i'll see. Rough everyday reality might push me to sell this one too.
So far only Deus stayed that long with me. Still here. And will stay for good.
Maybe is worth of trying to make DD coil for this 6000 Pro XL? And maybe add another tone?
    Winter is coming... will see...

Actually... it would be easy task totally!
No need for too much "profound" and "deep" brain storming at all!
"Log Amp & Meter Drive" are already "chewed" up and provides enough information for to feed into Atmega's ADC.
It's just plain "2-wire" Atmega hookup!

It would be simple "audio millivoltmeter" attached parallel with scale, divided in 3 ranges, producing 3 pitches.
Even simpler VCO can do the job...
Was it so hard at White's at the time to do that?

                This happens only to me!
Today went outdoor with 6000 again, deep in mountain.
And discovered just few pieces of junk.
                On my returning home... BINGO!
                Calvatia gigantea!
                Tasteful and delicious!
With goat cheese on the top!

                P.S.
One thing is for sure; with 6000 you will not suffer hunger outdoor!!!

Also took old "batch" of White's coils to test them with 6000.
Those were left from DFX and Spectra (not sure, long time ago).
NONE of those works well with 6000...
                  (Seems suitable only for
                  V3I, VX3, MXT, M6, MX5 i DFX models)
                  Sheeesh!

Suitable coils are only from mono-frequency detectors like classic, Xlt, 5900 etc. Every blue-max coil is OK.

                      Thanks Geo!
                      It's been a while since i used White's detectors!
Last 4-5 years i am "hanging out" mostly with Deus.
Few years before Deus i had several "non-White's" detectors.
So i completely forgot all the details on White's and their coils.
Now i am starting to recall some of the facts slowly.

                          It is 45cm coil.
Those 3 are now on sale, since i have no use from them at all.
