  • Input clamp diodes ringing?

The diodes on my input clamp are ringing home sweet home for about 1uS at tx turn off. I cant say if I have ever looked close enough to notice before.I dont remember that much ringing, anyway its ugly, and I dont like it. Its on my test rig and there is some point to point wiring, do you think that additional inductance of jumper wires would cause it? If that happens to not be the problem how do I stop it? Ferrite beads?

Make sure you have a good oscope ground, but probably point-to-point wiring. I would guess it gets buried by the preamp recovery so that you never actually see it at the output.

You on top of it buddy,i fixed it this morning. It was the scope ground. I had ch 2 grounded but ch1 wasn't. Whoa, bedlam. You know you can mod a phono jack to make a hillbilly oscilloscope jack? The probes I have are about 1/4" diameter at the tip.
