  • Anyone use a HP 4342A Q meter?

A few years ago I read how guys are using the HP 4342A Q meter to select coils and wondered if it had use in optimizing coils for detecting - like the Bigfoot for example.
Its minimum frequency is 22khz I think. I came across one on ebay cheap and bought it. Never got to using it and now wonder if I ever will. Cool for making Hi-Q coils for crystal radios - which I'd find fun, but extravagant. So what do you guys say - is it something you'd find useful or best for the ham guys?

You make that sound like a bad thing.
    How much was it?

I don't remember exactly - think it was between 150-200$.
Not the prettiest example - it should clean up fairly though.

Much of my stuff is electronics electronics magazines dating back to the 70's. Hate to trash them and too expensive to ship to a buyer.
Thought I'd spend my retirement writing books and magazine articles but who buys them anymore.... rrrrrrr.
