The prices are the same between tgsl and the krot2.
The krot2 coil is much easyer to null. If this is yoour first vlf,
It will be easyer to make it work.

The kit is available here -> http://www.silverdog.co.uk/shop2/ind...&product_id=99
Silverdog doesn't supply PCBs or kits for the VDI option.
There's a 7-inch 5-pin widescan coil on eBay at the moment which is suitable for TGSL. BIN price is £50 with free postage. Plus it comes with a coil cover.
        http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TESORO-7-I...4AAOSwOdpXzGaT
The same seller has a few similar coils for sale, including a couple of 11-inch widescans.

I would build TGSL first, then figure out how to build the VDI later. Once you know how to program a PIC to read the ADC inputs, and output to an LCD, the rest is fairly straightforward. The technique of target discrimination using phase demodulation is described in ITMD.

Edu - means Eduardo1979, guy who redesigned pcb a little bit.

                Hi,
It's about the same. You can also programm PICs with ARDUINO if you have a UNO board waiting for job.
                https://forum.arduino.cc/index.php?topic=92929.0

You can build a TGSL which has ONLY one tone. You can add a two tones mod. You can add VDI mod.
Or you can make KROT2 project which already has everything you dream of. But TGSL is a very nice project.

U can also make this Quasar Avr, which is DIP component and very similiar to Krot project.
Multi tone, feritte calibration, nulling coil without scope or multimeter cause there is ac voltmeter inside machine.
If u have problem to read Russian, i can post files for you.
                  Regards

I don't know about Krot or Quasar, but Tesoro detectors are well known for their ability to work in UK iron-infested soils, and are especially good at detecting small hammered silver coins.

Well, for iron infested area's, there is no faster machine than Xp Deus, no doubt. But there is word about diy. For iron infested area, tgsl will be good, it has very good recovery speed and it is realy good in rejecting ancient rusty nail's.
