Getting more and more interested in this machine. Comments like "from what I gathered F1266 more than anyone I liked. In second place Eldorado and the Bandit. Classic is not impressed with his work. Gold and Terminator were only interested in manufacturing and tuning. Now, lying on the bookshelf with trash" by GSL and "the coolest" by vlaser I have high hopes

Been using my 1260-X and really like it. The sound really suits me. At the end of its depth limit every sweep over the target gives a beep sweep speed does not matter. Unlike my other detectors which sometimes beep and sometimes not. Its more like detecting with the IDX in all metal mode but its only detecting ferrous objects.

Seems to loose less depth in the ground over any other detector. If it air test a coin at 12" and I bury it at 12" it still an easy target.

Been looking at http://www.md4u.ru/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=1291&start=425 there is at least 4 board layouts. Trying to find the one that's the closest to the original. Some seem to have small problems the fixes get lost in the translation

don't mind SMT but if the main IC's were socketed I could try some more modern alternatives.

I can't download some of the files as Microsoft thinks they contain malware.

I have searched on here and seen http://www.geotech1.com/forums/showt...highlight=1266 but does not seem to be working with the correct coil.

Interesting the last comment was by --Dave J. Same name as the original designer Dave Johnson.

Has anyone got details of a board that's 100% working.

Are you asking for schematics? I have some but this was 2010 and 2011 here in this forum.
Personally I like the Fisher 1266-X, it was my first professional MD and it still works.
But the Blisstool from Bulgaria beats it by 65% more depth including meteorite detection.

And the standard coil of the 1266x is too small - you would need the 11'' one for acceptable results.
The Fisher also is very e-smog sensitive so the solid "beeps" will vanish beyond snap, crackle and pop
if there is too much radiation nearby. And you have to carry 8x AA batteries around inside the armrest
if you don't modify this with some small Lipo-accu. OK, I'll see what I find for you - schematics etc.

Cheers Funfinder got the original schematics from 1993 somewhere.

More interested in known working layouts/boards.

Most are going for around £200 at the moment.

There is a bargain on EBay with a Buy now of £100 at the moment collection only (dam 300 mile round trip for me)

My F1260-X doesn't seem to be effected by interference any worse than any of my other detectors. Not tried under pylons yet.

"...-Dave J. Same name as the original designer Dave Johnson..."

Noooooo! Dave J. is just some local comedian trying to make impression...

1265 and 1266 are pretty high on my favorite list of all times.
You will be more satisfied with it than with 1260, go for it.

Hi Koala, maybe I have something for you:
            http://www.geotech1.com/forums/showt...-Fisher-1266-X

I'm sure you can find or repair some working board -
it's really a great retro-machine or some kind of mile-stone
concerning "deep-detectors" and a large amount was produced.

The standard coil cable needs some improvement for better protection
and the 8'' standard coil is rather for coins than for depth but its
a solid machine which does its job, even with coil under water.
btw. the easy to use pinpointing-trigger was adapted by Makro for the Racer.

If you adjust a little bit the pots or adding some very low capacitor
parallel to the coil-pins improved results are also possible.
You also can make the fixed GEB adjustable somehow.

Great. Here's one of the direct links:
                http://www21.zippyshare.com/v/8Es3MaOh/file.html
but I don't know how long they'll keep the file so the
                mirrors are always better.

btw. this here makes the 1266x usage more comfy:

A none working 1265-X control box turned up on eBay for £25 including postage. Pulled the trigger and bought it. Love the 1260-X but miss not having an all metal mode.

Looks a bit rusty at the back and can only see 3 pins in the coil connector.

Worse case I have a box for my Baracuda build plus the PCB to repopulate.

                    Here's hoping
