Probably you mean LED not Lod?

Try with active piezo summer according this schematic:

    https://wiki.forth-ev.de/doku.php/pr...pietzo_speaker

You can retain LED diode and take signal to connecting point PB5 from hot side of LED diode
or make LED protection resistor as voltage divider (trim potentiometer) and take signal from it..
    Transistor could be BC547 too.

Thank you Yes I mean led

You are using too much alu foil coil shielding, Hammerhead.
        This can reduce depth alot.
And you also can attach a vibration motor like used in cell phones
instead of the LED because the voltage is pretty the same.

Thank you for the compliment, Hammerhead!

You have it pretty warm in November in Alexandria when I look at this picture!
            Just joking!

btw. funny coincidence - I'm writing about Omar Sharif and now I found out that it was born in Alexandria.
I saw one of his movies a week ago: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsieur_Ibrahim
A beautiful movie with heart and wisdom located in Paris in the 1960s.

Is this your P.I. pinpointer on the picture? Perhaps the coil can be made larger for more depth.

Oh - I have some creative idea for you to experiment:
Open a cheap pocket AM radio, cut a wire near the tuner
and solder there 2 cables with a coil attached.
Now tune it very close to a radio station and if metal comes near the coil
the station should get louder or weaker.

This is because usually the coil inside the radio tunes the frequency
but the additional coil and the eddy currents of the metal distorts it slighty.
I haven't tested it yet how good it works but it might be an option.

Heres a simple IC 555 tone generator:
