Circuit idea: how to drive a PI coil directly from a 20-40mA output pin of a 5V microcontroller.

This solution combines a logic level, low-voltage MOSFET with a high-voltage one in a cascode configuration.

Note that R9 is not an external componennt but the internal impedance of the output pin.
