  • Deep Seeking M.L

Hi.Does anyone made the deep seeking metal locator?.I made xmit and receiver except the coils because i can't find pot cores.Does anyone know in witch elec.devices can i find pot cores.
The shematic is about the same with gemini II but why the deep is more bigger?
    Thanks

    Hi George
Do you got the 3H1 1811 cores? I am trying with other 1811 (561 N28 250), they have minor permeability and the transistor quikly burn it.

Ohhhh my God... how many years before...... what did you remember me.
George was me and later i changed nickname to Geo.
Btw... i constructed the detector and at the position of pot-core i put coils on simple ferrite core. Detector worked but was a little astable.

Regards .... and you made my day

That's why I wrote, "... unless the "guest" is now a "member".
I thought it might be you, but couldn't be certain as the IP address was different.

              DEEP SEEKER

              Hi Geo
I am new in the forums and I am happy for yuor "news". What core do you used (E, toroide, permeability) ? Do you tested what depth reach?
The article say 20Khz in trasmitter(pag 1) and then 100Kz. I am trying whith a 1811 pot core of 250 permeabiliy and generate 180 Khz.
              Excuse my english.

Actually, that's not so funny as you might think.
Always tempted by a challenge ... I searched the database using the IP address of the "guest" (213.5.83.105). There were no matches; so I searched again using a partial IP address ... and voila! ... see below:

By the way, you have used more than 800 separate IP addresses over the years while using Geotech. They're all there in the records. So my initial assumption was wrong. I could have tracked you down after all.

No need of pot-cores when you use normal coils. The recent designs of Fisherlab use normal coils connected without transformers:
                  http://www.fisherlab.com/
CEIA MIL-D1/s1 also uses multiturn coils:

                    Hi.
I used simple cores without shield (a plastic base with a ferrite screw at the center). Because it was astable, i did not make tests at field. Inside the lab it detected a soda can at 50...60cm on air. I believe that it is better to construct the Garry's 2box.
Deep seeker is based on Gemini-II schematic so it is better to buy a used Gemini-III that it is better. But the construction of a detector is an other "good" story

                        Hi Mike.
The designer of the deep seeker used pot-cores for better shielding (if i remember right)from the Tx field.

                          DEEP SEEKING

                          Hi
In the article of Wait and Harrison It is wrong the inductance of 16 mH in Rx L2? This inductor is not very diferent( only 20 turns, 5%) of Tx L1 whit 160mH. Inductance is proporcional to turns with the same core.

Indictance is proportional to SQUARE of turns number! Note what dimension has the parameter AL -nanohenries pro square turns number.

I hope my first ML and I will greateful for your valoration: obtain MIL D1/DS and FISHER better depth than DEEP SEEKING? Do you have de schems of thats ML?
                              Excuse my bad english
