Hi Guys,
I have been repairing Garrett Pro pointers for a while now and have come across many problems including the common ones, falsing, broken switches etc.
I was recently sent a pro pointer that behaves differently. Upon switching it on it gives a buzz and a hum from the speaker.
It does not detect any metals nearby, just makes that constanst buzz and hum.
I have provided a video so you can understand a little better.
!!BEFORE YOU ASK!! The buzzing and humming happens even when the coil is soldered on, it makes no difference.
I have a HUNCH, and again i'm no expert. I beleive it may come down to the central 16 pin IC on the board.
The writing on the chip is 263G 1566, googling this takes me to a russian metal detecting site similar to geotech1.
I have no idea what this chip is nor can I find it on aliexpress or affiliates.
My questions are :
Is this the culprit to the default pointer?
If so where can I find this integrated circuit?
Has anybody else had this problem before, how can I fix it ?
The only information I have on this pointer is that it may have taken on water.
Any information you may give me would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards
Matt
