  • Wagner Treasureton... rare?

THIS IS THE TEXT I FIND ABOUT THIS METAL DETECTOR:

"Wagner Detectors were simply a very high quality detector that searches very deep. This unit comes complete with a 9" search coil and a 30" search coil. The best part is... this unit has a search and analyze mode. It is like a modern day descrimination. So you do not waste your time on trash. The unit can be assembled in 30 seconds or less. The nine inch coil can find a penny at 8 inches, a flash light battery at 13 inches, a quart can at 24 inches as well as a 5 Gallon can at 38 Inches. The maximum range is 7 1/2 feet. The 30" coil can find a flash light battery at 24 inches, a quart can at 44 inches, 1 ft Square metal plate at 50 inches, and the maximum depth of 18 feet. That is deep enough to find very deep hidden treasures for sure. This technology is unsurpassed in todays market, and most detectors go 6" on the average. These detectors are simply amazing as they have an extra long handle to cover a large area very quickly, and find those very deep cashe boxes, that most detectors walk right over...
The unit come complete with a great heavy duty custom made case, and 10 search sample jars, headphones, 2 coils, meter instruction book, and Gardner Catalog book and case.
NOTES: This is a very rare detector that searches very deep... do not compare it to any made from the same time period... there is no comparison."

Not sure where the name "Wagner" comes from, but that's a Gardiner detector, maybe one of the "Analyzer" models, or maybe he had a "Treasuretron" model. Probably made mid-late 70's. I have a model 202A, and a 190. In the 60's & early 70's, I'd guess that Gardiner had some of the most advanced detector circuitry around. But not compared to anything made today.

I believe Bob Gardiner died in the early 80's, don't recall. His detectors were never big sellers, so they are a bit hard to find. But I think $145 is pushing the upper limits.
