Cloning a custom LCD is not as hard as you think. Though the LCD glass is custom-designed, the controller chip is likely to be one of a small number of common LCD controller IC's. A skilled engineer could work out which chip by studying the data protocol, or the original IC could be un-bonded from the glass and examined under a microscope. The LCD glass can be replicated easily, either by pulling part an original, or re-designing a functional equivalent. The other option is to choose your own LCD controller, and configure it to replicate the behaviour of the original.
Sure, it's not the simplest job, but I'm sure LCD manufacturers are pretty good at most of the methods I mentioned.

> Especially because there's written in red on aliexpress:
Attention: This product is a high copy made in China. If you mind it, please don't buy it.
Too bad the translation on ali-express is incomplete:
Is it some high quality, a highly exact copy or just were the counterfeiters high?
However - in the end the customer just don't wanna get cheated by miserable quality inside.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plagiarism
But they made clear that it is some Chinese clone!
If some resalers do the same is a different question ...
Comparable with cheap perfumes which are sold at street-markets
in tourist-places for 1/10 of the original price. Most know that its fake
but some think they made already the best deal of their life.
Same with Rolex watches or faked fashion bags or T-Shirts.
The main problem is not the quality-price-ratio if its good enough for the personal
needs (many detectors have parts made in China inside if not the whole PCB !!! )
but how good is the warranty-service! If the MD-company replaces fast the
faulty or broken detector it's no problem at all.
And with a little bit of tinkering many things are pretty easy to self-repair anyway!
Also it is more fun to mod devices which are not so expensive because if something
goes wrong it's not a very big financial loss.
Perhaps the whole thing is just some clever promotion-campaign so everyone pays
attention to White's detectors as we can see it here in this thread very good! LOL

Yes, but all people do this. Already kids copy the behavior of those who are "cool" because
they wanna be the same successful if it comes to being admired and having a girlfriend.
Conclusion:
Let's close this forum so none of these criminal subjects in this world gets any help anymore !!!
Because our info-technical etc. help here could be self-destructive or become exploited.
And stop Love !!! Because every husband who gives away all his work, money and time for his wife
and children will have a life full of extreme personal losses!!Of course this was just irony now to
counteract the whole topic!

To clone product as let's say Gold Bug is; it must be very serious planning.
I've been cloning some simpler detectors, it is not a big deal to make circuitry that works.
But when it comes to make 100% identical clone with exact outlook; oh well... it would be very serious enterprise.
