  • hello, you don't need them because PIC16F886 already has an internal oscillator, these are only needed for old pics, e.g. PIC18F252 or to use a higher frequency clock (above 8MHz) but the firmware only works with 4MHz...

    • however, you would need R15 jumper because PIC16F886 firmware only works with a LCD display

      • Roderico, thanks so much for the quick reply! Now everything is clear...

        • hello roderico will there be a problem designing a completely new digital according to my metal detector concept

          • but I don't fully understand, what is your metal detector concept?

            • my concept of the analog part in which U6 may not be needed

              • it might be possible but could you elaborate more on your schematics,e.g. the purpose of U6, have you already built a working prototype?etc.

                • hello roderico is my working and proven design

                  • if you need U6 to control the sound then the microcontroller might not work well because this part would need very low latency and the microcontroller needs to perform the analog to digital conversion first before any computation

                    • I don't need U6

                      • how does your detector compare with the original idx in performance, e.g. in the fields?

                        Comment

                        • definitely better thanks to the increased amplitude, TX has large ranges and the X + channel effectively cuts false signals from wet grass and coil vibrations

                          • are the vdi values more stable in your idx-mod with respect to the original idx?

                            Comment

                            • Your VDI works fine, although in reality it only gives distorted readings just on the edge of view. I placed another diagram with some minor corrections. These patches are due to the fact that I always make a circuit board without drawing a diagram, which I had to create especially for you
