  • Garrett Ace 150 - Constant Beeping Issue

    Hello,

    I am having issues with constant beeping with the ace 150
    Anything after 2 sensitivity makes it malfunction and cycle/beep through all tones

    Troubleshooting performed;
    -Check coil connection is secure
    -Wrap coil lead tightly
    -Clean coil & coil cover of loose material
    -Replace batteries
    -Checked batteries are fitted correctly
    -Test away from anything metal
    -Tested another coil (Factory ACE 150 coil)
    -Tested coil in free air (not attached to pole)
    -Factory reset device
    -Took apart control box, ensured the battery compartment springs were making contact, ensured no components were lose
    -Set potentiometers to lowest sensitivity and tested. Would not pickup metal on sens on 1, but once changed to 2 it would go crazy again

    Any help is appreciated thanks!

    Here is a video of how it reacts;

      Outside away from anything, mobiles inside, the issue still occurs. It seems to work fine on sens 1 but then has to be closer then 1" to detect anything

        Is it doing this in other locations ? Has it gotten Damp? Dry it out slow with a hair dryer. Try again.

          It was actually in indoor storage for about 1 year. It does it inside & also 20 meters away from the home (no wifi out there )

          I'm going to buy some good alkaline batteries to put in tomorrow and test again

              Put better batteries in - no change
              Not sure how it could be damp being stored indoors, but took apart and dried like advised - no change

              I'm pretty sure a chip on it has gone. So I have ordered a new MD

                I had the same problem with Tesoro Cortes, it was damn MCU.

                  Parts is Parts. Now you have Spares.

                      The first I'd have done: trying a different coil.
                      Because it's a bit expensive to throw away the whole MD just because the coil is defect.

                      If this doesn't helps the steps described in post #1 may help but usually it's something else.

                      At least now you're free to upgrade and can enjoy some MD with much better performance.

                        Yeh I did try another coil - see in original post. I followed post#1 but no avail either
                        Anyone ever used a BH Discovery 3300? This is the replacement
