Do you know the depht from this circuit? I got a little metal detector tool
today and the depht is very poor , its bfo too i guess.
      Only 2cm for a 1 euro coin.

No Being BFO not much I'm sure. Built it not working with the 4011. The LO is runing at like 2Mhz LOL . Looking for the right 4093. I have it on my inventory list but You know how that is.

This is my tool, i want to use the housing from it. Do you think i can use this potentiometer with switch to turn it on and adjust it?
Do you think your circuit is better than this? The left side with the ic is just for electricity detection.
I think i can use this ferrite rod or maybe the whole coil.

Why mess that up ? Keep it intact. Circuit calls for a 10K pot and you can find them about any place. See that one is using a 4069. Ferrite can be had from old AM radio's .

Because i want to use this enclosure, i will keep the board intact or maybe all.
I have exactly the same tool and this has a depht of about 10cm for a 1 euro coin.
This has exactly the same circuit but not the electricity thing and only 2 cm for a euro.
I cannot see a 4069 in my tool.

By the way, i soldered the parts at a board but not connected everything, i have used a 4093 ic.
I wasnt sure about the connection of the potentiometer because it has 3 connectors.
One belongs to the 1k resistor and one to the 4,7nf capacitor but where needs to be the third?

Im new to electronics, i only have built one Tesoro Golden Sabre Light and one BFO.

It's the only IC on the board. MC14069UB.. https://www.google.com/search?biw=11...psgZDH2Hq1spM:

Yes, i just saw it , i have thought its an other type because of so much letters and numbers.

But a 4093 is not the same, or is it?
You said it works too. Or was it a 4096?

I made it and tested it with the coil from my other bfo (about 15 Turns 15cm diameter 0,3mm).
I think its because of too less turns, its very silent and depht is poor, only 5cm for a aluminium cutter knife.
And i cannot measure the frequenzy at the coil connectors , i dont know why.

I get about 150 kHz with only one probe at the upper second pin at the right side.

Do you think it works better with more turns?

I need to find out how much turns i need for a ferrite rod.

The coil calculator says that i need a coil with 1.522 mH , this is 348 Turns at a 1cm diamter rod. I think the ferrite core changes the inductance so i wont need so much turns.

My coil had only 0.095 mH with 15 Turns 150mm diameter.

I tried it with one of my tgsl coil, i dont think the depht becomes better with a better coil.
I need to improve my metal detector tool.

How can i add a speaker to the circuit? Is this possible?
