  • Multiple Coil detector !

I'm thinking in making a "strange" detector that works with more then one coil.

The head/coils configuration will be something like this:

    Head
    .-------.
    | O O O | Circles represent the coils
    .-------.

So, in this layout i'll probably have 3 coils !

    The question is:

What kind of tecnology works best :
(The main problem here is interference between coils !)

    PI Option
    1. Tree indepedent PI detectors working simultaneously
    2. One PI detector with sequential coil selection.

    VLF Option
    3. Tree independent VLF detectors set to 3 diferent frequencies working simultaneously
    4. One VLF detector with sequential coil selection.

    Re: Multiple Coil detector !

    Hi Paulo,

For PI, both are possible but you get minimum coil to coil interaction and best performance from a 3rd arrangement. That is for each coil to have its own TX driver and RX preamp. These are then pulsed and sampled sequentially.
