  • Ground classification

    Hello,

there is a question on my mind I hope somebody can answer. I am looking for a way to classify different ground conditions and compare them with each other. This question was fueled by working with the different timings using a GPX5000.
I assume severely mineralized ground has a much higher conductivety compared to non-mineralized ground. My idea is to measure the ground conductivety in a certain spot, find the best timing for it and be able to compare it to other grounds using the same method. That way I would be able to say, in a ground with for example .2 microsiemens conductivety, timing x has to be used. Or I would be able to see how different VFL machines perform compared to another ones. Am I on the right track here with my idea or am I making a mistake?

    Thanks for your input

Ground conductivity is also affected by moisture content

Whether there is any meaningful correlation between optimal settings and conductivity I don't know ?

I am not sure about the moisture since we are talking about a magnetic field penetrating the ground. I have not heard that moisture influences the magnetic field, but I might be wrong. In my test garden, it does not make a difference if I run the GPX on a day with wet ground or dry ground. Also my VLF machines seem not to be influenced my moisture.
