I worked in a test lab. We had a purchased instrument to record long term data in the field. Put it on a log skidder for three weeks. When I went back to down load the data it didn't work. The boards were coated and had gaskets to keep moisture out. We weren't near salt water but the boards still got corroded. My experience. To repair a metal detector with a scope requires knowing something about the circuit. Repairing it without the scope requires luck.
