  • Surf PI 1.2 issue

    Hey everyone

So i just recently got the Surf PI 1.2 kit and put it all together.
I only got it to detect a screwdriver by accident once and never anything again.
    I followed this guide http://www.adrianandgenese.com/blogg...-kit/#comments

I believe my board is correct. The wiring I'm not so sure about.

All that happens now is a loud constant beeeeeeee sound with or without the coil attached. I moved all metal away from the board in case it was that.
funny thing is when i got the detection that one time, I actually had the speaker on the wrong way around. if i place it correctly, i get the high pitched sounds.
Both volume and sensitivity seem to do the same thing, adjust the volume.

I am not sure what I have done wrong but im sure its simple. Is anyone able to assist please

I have added a bunch of pictures for the layout and build to my google drive and shared it. here's the link
Tried to make the pictures as clear as possible. Let me know if i need to provide anything else

Looks like you have it running on 9 volt (6x1.5v).

    Mine stops working at 9.2v.

    Try 12 volt battery pack.

hello! it will not be easy to make it work without oscilloscope.
      Few advice:
-clean the flux remains from pcb with isopropilic alcohool (acetone will do also)
-check again all components if are placed correctly value and pinout.
-the coil need to be far from metal objects(usually i keep it in the middle of the room on one carton box)
      -check delay pot and connection
      -did you adjust 0v?
-try one strong magnet to detect
that continuous tone can be threshold pot.

Ill get a bigger battery pack, clean the flux
ive checked the components already , but will go again
ive placed the coil quite far, same deal, in the middle of the room lol
yes, i have set the 0v from ground and pin 6
        i havnt tried a magnet.

          hey, just an update
I upped the power from 6 1.5 AA's to 8, bringing it to 12v and it works now
was worried before about increasing the voltage.

          thanks guys
          much appreciated
