Regarding the Minelab marketing/techno/mumble I just realised Dilbert makes those for them, see http://dilbert.com/strip/2018-03-06

Minelab put pre-production units in the hands of people wanting to pad their ego and pocketbook. Whether they had a forum or a youtube channel, Minelab felt confident they would jump on the opportunity. Marketing techniques were used that did not include Minelab showing what their machine was capable of that other machines were not.
I don't think it matters whether or not their latest machine has any technological advantage over previous models in order for Minelab to continue to profit. They are in the detector business rather than the detecting business.

I feel a tweak of the firmware algorithms will be in the pipe line
Although I would have liked the poster to have swung the heal and toe of the coil over the target

@Chiv: You seem to be the first person on this forum to have one. Have you examined its transmitted waveform? I'm sure many of us are curious about the technical aspects of the machine. Does it transmit the same signal all the time, even in 'single-frequency' modes? Are the nugget-hunting modes done with different TX signals?

No, I was just checking for a friend that has one, and he has a 3030 and has a pair of headphones that I made for him that are louder than most of the headphones, and he was thinking of changing the input connection for the headphones to match the connector of the 3030, because minelab headphones are not that great and don't have the volume and clearness that the ones I made for him. thanks for the fast reply. Hi Skippy, no have not done any checking on tx with scope but yes it can be set for one frequency or multi in any mode. only played with for a day or two as have not been home to use it. Have done my own air tests with different coins just to see/hear sound and numbers, did find that some coins in beach mode1 will not register with the machinebut in every other mode nothing escaped. Gold mode very sensitive in air test but have not gotten to the red dirt just yet to really test it, hopefully this winter I get out and give it a real good test.
I'm home this week so I will try and scope the machine frequencies if the little scope will do it, one thing I do like about it is air calibration setting as I have played with it in a few rooms and then air test different coins, seems to work quite well for filtering out them emi's. but have along way to go to learn all the bells and whistle on this machine.

I didn't spot this though
The problem’s name is XP Deus. Minelab have filed a lawsuit against XP in regards to this machine – accusing the French manufacturer of stealing their technology. In particular, they are trying to ban this unit in the US. Let me remind you: the XP Deus first appeared in 2009. So because of the fact that there is such device as an XP Deus in France, local treasure hunters won’t get the Minelab Equinox – at least through the Minelab authorized dealer network, with official warranty. Let French hobbyists go to Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and buy their longed-for machines there feeling like they are smuggling.
