  • Coil cable design

I am planning on using Mogami WG2534 cable for replacement of coil cable on an Excal.
It has low capacitance, two twisted pairs, and outer shield.
The thing is that the coil has 5 or 6 wires out of it but on the board it only attaches two pairs.
The original cable did not have a shield but appeared to have at least two ground wires.
So I had planned on using a 4 pin connector scheme to be able to switch coils.
Now that I have this outer shield, how best to wire it:
Connect to ground of say TX at the connector and leave shield ground open at the coil?
Connect the shield at the coil to ground wire(s)?
Ground the shield at the coil but leave open at the top end?
On an exal does cable type matter much? Most use unshielded power cable type cables.

What, no idea? No big deal either way?
I guess I'll have to try things and get back to ya....

Shielding the TX I would just run the shield to Ground (Neg Battery??)

Shielding Rx, Coil Shell Shield all the way to Same.

no Homefire. a TX wire is not connected to ground. ie both. topicstarter has to look on one of RX wire,
        preamp pin.

If the Individual Pairs are Shielded I just tie the Tx shield to Ground.. Not terminated at the coil end.

Rx side Coil Shield and RX wire Shield both to Ground or Neg what ever is being used.
