  • Anyone hear from Dave Emery?

I haven't seen him post in a long time. Also I was reading this thread on one of the Sub-Forums and saw a post by Dave back in 2003 I believe where Dave said that a PI would be more effective if it had a carrier along with it. Had something to do with charging the surface of the soil but got me to thinking how advanced he was considering ML using something like that with their latest $8,000 PI. Too bad he didn't patent that idea, what a shame.

    Hi R.Seden

    Earth capacitor.
    Soil already charged.
How use for PI DETEKTOR ?

      Pustareka,

I use my Pulse Induction metal detector for Gold Nugget hunting (White's TDI SL with all the Reg Sniff Modifications). The problem with the LF and VLF Induction Balance is their lack of ability to penetrate soils with lot's of Iron black sands. I surprised that Carl hasn't answered my question about Dave Emery. Is his name verbotten?

I think he cooperate in past months with bugwhiskers on some QED solutions, so go
            on http://australianelectronicgoldprosp....com/index.php and ask there.

                    Aziz,
Eric Foster made a true PI with a balanced searchcoil which could discriminate over twenty years ago. The problem is that the reactive component suffers from ground effect. Using filters such as a motion VLF will result in amajor reduction of depth over a regular PI. In short it has been done and may well prove to be a method for the future once the problems involved with such designs are solved. The dream is to find a reliable method of making a regular PI discriminate like a VLF using only a mono coil.
                    ----------
Hi Dave, When you say "discriminate", do you mean determining if the target is ferrous or non-ferrous, or are you referring to distinguishing between different kinds of non-ferrous targets, such as zip-tabs and coins?
                    Allan
                    -----
                    Allan,
I am talking about a fully variable discrimination control such as the control found on a VLF. Maybe even a notch discriminate control to boot! The detector Eric made was ferrous / non ferrous only but it goes to show you how far ahead he has been for so long. He made that detector over twenty years ago!!!

                    -------
we have this schematic as PPD1. with no data on the coil.

Dave is doing well and living in Florida as I speak to him about once or twice a month. He said that he had a new patent for a fully discriminating PI but we will see. Nice fellow as he sent me components and other items to build a nice little PI detector.

what design was your nice little PI detector , is it anything we are familiar with ?

Thank you! Now we're getting somewhere. Lucky you getting the components to build his PI.

i want only ask you WHY? for what? why so much strong bare cosmic noise around in this world with bare result?

KT315 because these are important questions that need to be asked in the progress of PI detectors. Knowing that Dave has contributed his front end design to the QED PI in Australia in the recent past shows that he is still active. So no, no cosmic noise,no bare result-this is no time for us to roll over and go back to sleep!
